Initial Occupational Therapy Home Visit. The clinical components of a home visit will vary depending on the client’s needs, therapy goals, home environment and social factors. Activities undertaken as part of a home visit include:
1. Home visit risk assessment and operational management (prior to visit)
2. Information collection and assessment of the home environment
3. Assessment of the client undertaking functional tasks in the home environment for example – a tea and toast assessment, transfer and access assessment
4. Interventions to improve client safety, function and independence in the home environment including environmental modification and assistive technology
5. Clinical notes of assessment findings and interventions
After the initial home visit assessment and complexity of requirements are determined, future Occupational Therapy services will be negotiated with the client and / the referring team.
